A BROADBAND ICT service provider, VDT Communications Limited, has been voted the “Wireless Backhaul Provider of the Year 2009″ by the users’ community.

The broadband firm received the honour at this year’s edition of the “Beacon of ICT Award”, organised by the Nigeria Communications Week, at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, on Saturday, March 27, 2010.

At the event was the out-going Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Ernest Ndukwe, who was honoured with the “Father of Modern Nigeria Telecom” award and Director-General, National Broadcasting Commission, Yomi Bolarinwa, who received the “ICT Man of the Year” award.

Lagos State Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure, Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson, was also honoured with the “Beacon of ICT Award” as the “Infrastructure Network Builder of the Year”.

Several corporate organisations and individuals who had distinguished themselves in the development of Information Technology in Nigeria were also honoured at the event.
